Young Fine Gael has expressed their disappointment with a hike in student
fees in Budget 2026.
The organisation say they are deeply disappointed that students will face a
€500 increase in fees
this year compared to last year.
Dean Kenny, Young Fine Gael North West Regional Organiser and a native of
Belcarra in Mayo feels that this is a setback for affordability and access.
In their pre budget submission to the Minister for Finance, Young Fine Gael
called for a €1500
permanent reduction to the student contribution charge, to help families and
students that are struggling to cover the rising costs of going to college.
The former Student Union President at University of Galway says they remain
steadfast in their campaign to achieve the complete abolition of the student
contribution fee.
Dean Kenny has been giving more details to Midwest Radio’s Michael D.
