Events are being held nationally and locally today, to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
The day, which has been running since 1993, aims to honour the millions who have been killed or injured in road traffic collisions worldwide.
It comes as the number of people who have dies on Irish roads so far this year nears 150, which is three times more than at the same point in 2024.
There will be a remembrance mass held at 12 noon today at Knock Basilica to honour the day. Members of Mayo road safety will read prayers of the faithful, and remembrance candles will be lit. Symbols will also be left at the altar by members of the emergency services and responders.
