A Mayo Senator has today raised the need for progress to be made on the reopening of the Western Rail corridor from Athenry to Claremorris.
Fine Gael Senator Mark Duffy says the Western Rail Corridor has the potential to retransform the Western Seaboard.
Senator Duffy says the reopened line has so many benefits for industry, students commuting to Galway and Limerick and people attending health services.
The Western Rail Corridor has the potential to cost upwards on €200 million euro but Senator Duffy says the state investment in such a project would be monumental.
He has been giving more details to Midwest Radio’s Michael D. McAndrew.
