Warning of Enniscrone rip currents

A warning has been issued to those travelling to Enniscrone beach over the summer period.

Strong rip currents have been identified at the beach, in front of the old Cliff Baths, and has caused difficulties for anyone who has entered the water in that area.

Those attending the beach are being urged to stay close to the front of the beach near the lifeguard station where conditions are calmer.

Additionally, lifeguards are not yet on duty at the beach.

Eithne Currid is the Water Safety Development officer in Sligo.

She told Midwest Radio’s Alannah Nolan more about the dangers at the beach, and gave advice for those planning on taking advantage of the water over the Bank Holiday Weekend:
