The urgent need for improved accessibility in Ballyhaunis has again been highlighted by a local councillor.
At the monthly meeting of Claremorris Municipal District, Fine Gael councillor Alma Gallagher reiterated the need for enhanced accessibility in the town, particularly the deteriorating footpaths.
The issues are making it increasingly challenging for staff and service users of Western Care and the older population to navigate the journey to essential shops and services without having to venture out on to the N60, posing a significant safety hazard.
Councillor Gallagher proposed that a walkability audit be carried out in every town and village in the county and her motion was carried.
