Valerie Duffy to be ratified as Roscommon cllr today

Valerie Duffy is set to be formally ratified as a member of Roscommon County Council at this afternoon’s monthly meeting.

A community activist from the Moore region, Ms. Duffy was formally selected by Fine Gael as the party’s replacement for the late cllr John Naughten at a meeting last Thursday night.

Cllr Naughten passed away last October.

Ms. Duffy defeated one other candidate, Taughmaconnell’s Ger Grehan, at the co-option selection convention in the Athlone Springs Hotel.
