An update has been provided on the Old Mill Apartment Block in Ballisodare.
The apartment block, which is classified as derelict, has been sitting idle and in decay since 2008.
Sligo-Drumcliffe Municipal District was told at a recent meeting by council officials that it’s aiming to purchase 30 of the 72 apartments in the Old Mill.
However, the building will have to be brought up to current building regulations, and the authority is awaiting a revised costing for the completion of 30 units. It will then seek funding from the Department of Housing for this development.
Two separate reports have confirmed the apartment blocks can be brought back into use, and that the concrete is of an appropriate standard.
