Uisce Éireann crews have located a significant leak on a water main which is impacting supply to customers in Achill this afternoon.

Uisce Éireann customers in Currane and the surrounding areas are experiencing outages and low pressure as a result of this leak.

Crews have mobilised to the site of the leak and have commenced repair works.

It is estimated that repairs will be complete by 11pm this evening.

Typically, it can take three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all properties after an unplanned outage. Customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer restoration times as the system recharges.

Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager Colette Scahill said crews will make every effort to complete their repairs and restore supply as soon as possible.

“This is a large leak on the network which has led to instances of low pressure and outages for customers in the area,” she said.

“We understand the inconvenience and frustration caused by unplanned disruptions such as these,” Ms Scahill continued, “and we thank impacted homes and businesses for their patience as we work to restore supply as quickly as we can.”
