A minute’s silence was observed this afternoon at the West Mayo Municipal District Meeting in Belmullet in memory of the late councillor Margaret Adams.
Tributes were paid by councillors from both the Westport and Belmullet electoral areas to Margaret.
Deepest sympathies were extended to her family and to the community that she had served.
She served as a Fianna Fail councillor on Westport Town Council for four decades and was a leading light in the development of the Customs House in the town.
She also served on Mayo County Council and was described by councillors today as a friend to all, respecting the views of all and was determined to deliver for her area.
