Thousands without power in Mayo

Thousands are without power throughout the county this evening, as Storm Amy continues to move through the country.

There are major outages along the Moy line, as well as the wider Ballina area, Crossmolina, Charlestown, Westport, Achill, Swinford, and the wider Mayo area.

There have been restorations for thousands of customers this evening in areas including some in Swinford, Bangor Erris (where there are over 2,500 customers restores) and Ardnaree

The ESB say crews are working to restore power to those affected as quickly as possible, with people advised to charge their mobile phones in case of power outages.

The ESB also say “crews will continue the restoration for as long as possible this evening but, with the difficult conditions, it is likely that the majority of customers will not have their power restored tonight”.

We acknowledge the disruption to family and commercial life this causes and thank impacted customers for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power.

Approximately 184,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power nationally,predominantly incountiesGalway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan and Donegal.
