Tenants in Situ Scheme stalled

Mayo deputy Paul Lawless says one of the few schemes that was working in Mayo to prevent homelessness has been frozen by government for a year now.

The Tenant in Situ Scheme was set up to allow a landlord to keep tenants in his/her property while selling the property to the local authority.

In Mayo, a number of landlords who have applied to the scheme for twelve months now have been left in limbo with no response to their application, while the tenants in such properties deal with the uncertainty that arises in such situations.

The Aontu deputy, recently raised the matter in the Dail and he’s been telling Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley more about the scheme and the government’s response….
