Works are due to begin on a programme of mains upgrades which will boost the capacity of Ballina’s water network and support the future growth and development of the town.
Uisce Éireann Programme Manager Donal O’Connor said these works are essential to support the future growth and development of Ballina, including planned residential development.

The programme of works will take place on McDermott Street and Gurteens, and will involve the installation of over 1.4km of new pipeline.
The project will be carried out in two phases. The first phase, which will begin on Monday, 24 November, will involve the installation of approximately 310 metres of new pipes from the reservoir at Gurteens along the L1119 as far as the junction of McDermott Street and Fenian Row.
This phase of works will require traffic management in the form of a traffic light system. This traffic management will be in place from Monday, 24 November, until mid-December.
The second phase of works will continue down McDermott Street as far as its junction with Teeling Street. This phase is due to commence in late spring 2026.
These works may involve some short-term water interruptions, and the project team will ensure that impacted customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.
