Solicitors for a number of Irish people from the Global Sumud Flotilla have written to the Tanaiste Simon Harris, to highlight their situation.
They’re still being detained by Israel after the flotilla was intercepted on Wednesday night.
All Irish people who were on board the Flotilla vessels have been transferred to Kestiot Prison.
It’s located 30 kilometres from the Egyptian border.
In a letter, to the Tanaiste, their solicitors have highlighted the unlawfulness of these arrests and have asked Simon Harris to condemn them as being unlawful.
It’s after armed members of the Israeli Defence Forces boarded over 40 Flotilla boats over 24 hours on Wednesday and Thursday.
The solicitors for the Irish citizens say the arrests took place in international waters and Israel does not have a legal right to effect arrests beyond its territory.
