Action is needed on “disgraceful” vape shop displays which are attracting children.
Sligo Councillor Fergal Nealon says local authorities must use their powers of enforcement on shop fronts.
The Fine Gael Councillor for Sligo-Strandhill says the neon colours and large images of children’s cartoon characters are not appropriate for vape shops.
Councillor Nealon is bringing a motion before Sligo County Council seeking to regulate the shop fronts.
A similar motion was passed by Mayo County Council was passed by Mayo County Council earlier this year, but there is doubt over the powers Local Authorities have to deal with the issue.
