The Road Safety Authority says it’s on track to meet its target of 200 additional driving instructors by the end of the year.
It’s after the Irish Road Haulage Association called for the RSA to be reviewed and reformed, because of delays in driving tests.
The current average waiting time is around 6 months.
RSA Spokesperson Sarah O’Connor, says recruitment has been sped up to tackle the issue:
This comes as over 20 supplies across the country are officially in drought status.
