The historic building of the Roscommon Town Post Office, which has served the public for more than 100 years, will close its doors for the final time today.
Located on The Square, the post office will relocate its services elsewhere in the town.
The building opened its doors to the public back in 1912, and early last year An Post announced that the postal service, which they ran directly themselves, would be replaced by a contractor run operation following a tender process.
The new post office will open after the Bank Holiday, on Tuesday March 18 at 11:00am in the Supervalu Roscommon store.
It is understood that the historic post office building will be put up for sale, following the move of the postal service to the new location.
