A Roscommon native has been appointed as Ireland’s ambassador to Brazil.
Martin Gallagher, from Lisacul, was nominated by Tanaiste Simon Harris for the role earlier this year. Mr. Gallagher’s previous role was the Director in Consular Division at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
He led teams responsible for international travel advice, strategy and visa services in this position.
The Roscommon man has worked in foreign affairs for over 20 years, with bodies including the United Nations and the Department of Foreign affairs itself.
