A fire along the side of the main road into Achill was brought under control yesterday.
The fire broke out along the roadside in the Bunnacurry area early yesterday afternoon.
The blaze was noticed by a passerby and the fire brigade was called and the fire was extinguished.
A national Orange alert for forest fires is in place at present and will remain in place throughout the Bank Holiday weekend.
