Tens of thousands of sun seekers heading to the beach over the weekend are being advised to choose a lifeguarded beach and swim between the flags.
The RNLI is warning of the dangers of swimming alone, to be mindful of tide times and read local hazard signage to understand local risks.
RNLI Water Safety Lead, Linda-Gene Byrne says where possible swim where there is a life guard present.
The inaugural meeting was held without the local media invited.
