The emergency services were called to Lough Lannagh in Castlebar, earlier today, after a dragon boat, with an estimated 20 people onboard, capsized.
There are no reports of injuries after all those on board got safely back to shore.
The incident happened during an open event held by Castlebar’s Gráine Mhaol Dragon Boat Club for new members
Shortly before 11.15am., the craft overturned while attempting to change direction in the windy conditions.
Most of the crew. wearing lifejackets, stayed with the boat while a number swam ashore.
Emergency services were called by members of the public looking on.
Members of the public, including volunteers of the Castlebar Community Clean-Up Group and local Councillor Blackie Gavin, helped them out of the water as the emergency services were quickly on the scene.
The Connaught Telegraph is reporting that a statement is expected to be made by the club in due course.
