Small and Medium Enterprise businesses in the West see strong potential in the use of AI in their business, but lack the training, expertise, and funding pathways to implement it.
That’s according to a report launched this week by Regional Skills West, which says that AI could enhance productivity and competitiveness for SMEs in Mayo, Roscommon, and Galway.
Among the report’s recommendations are coordinated AI upskilling pathways, a shared regional AI knowledge hub, and deeper collaboration between SMEs, higher education and national enterprise agencies.
Denise Rocks, Regional Skills West Manager, says the report “captures what employers are telling us every day on the ground – clear, accessible supports will unlock real opportunities for regional businesses”.
