High rents in Dublin are pushing people to seek housing further out, according to Threshold.
It comes as figures from the Residential Tenancies Board show rents rising by 3.3% in the capital in the first three months of the year.
However that compares to an increases of over 10% in Donegal, Kerry, Kildare, Laois, Limerick, Monaghan, Roscommon and Tipperary.
