“Relief” as sit-in at Bord Bia ended

The IFA stood down its 28 day sit-in protest at Bord Bia headquarters last night, following agreement that there will be a governance review into the matters it has been raising in recent weeks.

Bord Bia chair Larry Murrin will remain as chair of Bord Bia while the review takes place, but will not chair the meetings during the review period.

This review will be commissioned by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. 

The IFA mounted its protest at the door of Bord Bia over Mr. Murrin’s company, Dawn Farm Foods, importing 1% of its beef supply from Brazil last year.

Pat O’Toole is political correspondent with the Irish Farmers Journal , and he was  at  Bord Bia Head Quarters yesterday evening as  news broke of the agreement.
