A status yellow rain warning has been issued for all of Connacht as well as Donegal and other counties for this weekend.
The warning comes into effect from 18:00 tomorrow evening and it valid until midnight on Sunday night.
Possible impacts include an increased risk of flooding, difficult travelling conditions, and poor visibility.
Counties Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick are also affected.
The programme was discussed at an Oireachtas meeting on Thursday.
