Protest likely if design plans remain unpublished

Publish the planned re-design of the controversial pedestrian crossing in Foxford town centre now or expect public protests at the location.

That was the stark warning from Foxford based councillor Neil Cruise to council management at yesterday’s monthly meeting of Mayo County Council.

The danger the present pedestrian crossing  poses to all road users in the town centre has been highlighted for more than a decade, and while funding in excess of 60,00 euro has been secured from Transport Infrastructure Ireland for works, the proposed re-design must go before the public for their consideration, before works can begin.

Yet despite, repeated promises by council management that the planned re-design publication is “imminent”, it still has not happened.
