Aughagower is preparing to welcome Canadian Prime Minister on Sunday.
The Mayo village was home to Mark Carney’s paternal grandparents, with the pair emigrating in the 1920s to Canada.
Ahead of Sunday’s visit, Mr. Carney will be in Dublin tomorrow, meeting the Taoiseach for a State dinner.
The Premier will fly into Ireland West Airport Knock on Sunday, before traveling to Westport. After his visit to Aughagower, he will travel back to the town to attend a civic reception hosted in his honour by Mayo County Council.
