Post Office Pensioners United (POPU) today welcomed the announcement that the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU) will hold a rally outside Leinster House at 1pm tomorrow, Tuesday.
For more than four years, POPU, with members across this region, has campaigned for the removal of the 2% cap on pension increases, a restriction contained within the Pension Accord Agreement — an agreement that the CWU itself originally accepted, despite its detrimental impact on retired An Post workers.
A spokesperson for POPU said that the Union now organising a public rally of its members validates POPU’s long-running pension campaign, against the Pension Accord 2013.
POPU supports tomorrow’s CWU rally but vows to continue its independent campaign to secure the full removal of the Pension Accord and restore fair pension increases for all affected retirees.
