Poor road surface between Westport and Louisburgh

The state of the road surface on one of the county’s busiest tourist routes is completely unacceptable, according to a Louisburgh based councillor.

Councillor Chris Maxwell says the R335 road that links Westport to Murrisk and onto Louisburgh has been left in a very poor state following a major new water scheme for the Murrisk/ Kilsallagh area.

He raised the matter at the monthly meeting of MCC earlier this week and was told by council management that a small amount of funding is available to address it.

The Councillor responded saying “ St Patrick, himself, wouldn’t  be too pleased with that reply”. The Independent Ireland councillor told Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley that piece meal restoration of the road surface is not adequate…
