The long awaited Climbing Wall to be located beside the Lough Lannagh Leisure Complex in Castlebar is set to go to tender within the next few weeks and the facility is on track to be in place by March next year (2026).

This was confirmed by the Manager of Castleabr Municipal District David Mellett at the monthly meeting of the District.

The news was welcomed by councillor Blackie Gavin, however, the councillor expressed concern about the lack of adequate car parking spaces at the Lough Lanngh Leisure Complex at present.

He said the success of the facility, sees the car park full at 6.30am most mornings.

In response,  Mr Mellett told councillors that there are plans in place to extend the parking area at the complex and work should get underway on it by the end of the year.

Councillor Gavin told Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley that progress on additional car parking at the complex is very welcome….
