This week west-of-Ireland actor & comedian, Owen Colgan, best known from the RTE hit ‘The Hardy Bucks’ has joined an ‘edgy’ national online video campaign for Irish Wheelchair Association.
‘Access- it’s No Joke’ is a national online campaign by IWA using dark-humour to highlight the access struggles people with disabilities have to face when they are using public transport or, as highlighted in Owen’s video, using pathways blocked by parked cars. https://www.iwa.ie/get-involved/advocacy-campaigns/our-campaigns/access-its-no-joke/
Owen has joined some of Ireland’s best known comedians David McSavage and Anna Clifford to support the campaign. The dart-humoured videos highlight funny but thoughtless, inconsiderate ways we often create obstacles for people with disabilities face on daily basis.
‘Access- it’s No Joke’ by Irish Wheelchair Association is calling for a full-time, fully resourced access officer, a person with the lived experience of disability, in each local authority across the country . www.iwa.ie for details
