Mayo County Council has been allocated over €140,000 under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2026.
The scheme, which has received €8.1m nationally, assists owners and custodians of protected structures with essential repairs, safeguarding the architectural heritage that shapes Ireland’s towns, villages, and rural landscapes.
Among the largest allocations for Mayo is €25,250 each for rainwater disposal and window repairs for the Church of the Holy Family, Kiltimagh, roof and interior works at Belleek Castle, Garrankeel, and rainwater disposal and essential maintenance works at the Christian Fellowship Church in Castlebar.
