Over 100 waiting for a bed in Connacht hospitals

Hospitals in the province account for over one quarter of the amount of patients waiting for a bed in Ireland this morning.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s Trolley Watch shows that there are 405 people waiting for a bed in Irish hospitals today.

University Hospital Limerick once again has the busiest Emergency Department, where 92 people are left waiting.

The second and third busiest in the country are in University Hospital Galway (59) and Sligo University Hospital (28).

There are 20 people waiting for a bed at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, while Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe has no waiting patients to report.

The total figure for Connacht hospitals is 107, accounting for 26% of the national number.
