Minister for the Office of Public Works, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, will visit Crossmolina this coming Friday, where a sod will be turned to mark the launch of the construction phase of the River Deel Flood Relief Scheme.
This news has been confirmed today by Minister of State Alan Dillon.
The €13.5 million scheme was given the ‘green light’ back in September, which aims to protect 116 properties which are repeatedly subject to flooding in the North Mayo town.
Back in December 2015, homes and businesses throughout Crossmolina were affected by catastrophic flooding, causing millions of euro in damages.
The event will take place at the newly established site offices at 11:30am.
