Only 57% of farmers have encountered a Garda Checkpoint in their locality in the last two years.
That’s according to a survey commissioned by Agriland and the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association, which was responded to by 2,300 farmers.
The ICMSA have said that the findings raise questions about the level of policing in rural Ireland and “on the ground” Garda presence at a time when concerns about wider rural crime and serious driving infringements are growing.
