A road safety campaigner claims there’s no political will to tackle road safety issues.
The Irish Road Victims Association wants vehicular manslaughter introduced as a crime on the statute books, to replace current dangerous driving laws.
Currently, dangerous driving causing death is an offence, but vehicular manslaughter doesn’t exist.
IRVA Vice President Leo Lieghio, isn’t confident it will become a law though:
Groups in the county have received a total €600,000.
