A Mayo Councillor who lives alongside where the preferred N26 route corridor could be built says the option on the table is the least destructive to the area around it.
The N26 route corridor would be a new road connecting Ballina-Foxford, with the Ballina by-pass at one end and the Foxford Transport plan at the other.
The road will also have three roundabouts allowing for staggered local access.
A 2+1 carriageway will be central to the road, meaning there would be an overtaking lane on one side of the carriageway, alternating half-way along the route.
Councillor Joe Faughnan, who is based on the existing route halfway between the two North Mayo towns, believes this will be the least destructive option, despite the possibility of a homeowner/landowners losing their property.

Submissions and feedback on the route can be made with Mayo County Council until this Thursday.
