Over 1,000 tidy towns committees nationwide are set to benefit from a new insurance premium provided by the Irish Public Bodies (IPB) Insurance and local authorities.
A typical insurance premium is around €1,500 which rises to almost €7,000 for larger towns which is a significant drain on the finances of tidy towns groups.
All tidy towns groups are ‘pooled together’ to avail of a master policy undertaken by the local authorities.
This has been welcomed by councillor Damien Ryan, who had a motion down on this issue earlier this year.
