Mayo County Council will soon pilot a programme designed to encourage people to build homes on serviced land.
The scheme will involve land that is already fitted with power, water, footpaths, and other infrastructure by the council being sold to buyers at a discounted price that they can then build on without having to burden the cost of the mentioned infrastructure.
It is hoped that it will provide an affordable alternative to purchasing homes already on the market.
