New changes to jobseeker’s payment

The jobseeker’s payment is now linked to a person’s previous income.

The new social welfare changes will apply to anyone who becomes unemployed from today and has paid at least five years of PRSI contributions.

The pay-related scheme brings Ireland in line with other EU countries, and will have three rates of payment, starting at a maximum of €450 a week.
