There are great celebrations this morning in Ballina, as the senior Quiz team representing the Quay National School, Ballina won the All Ireland Credit Union Quiz title at the RDS yesterday
Tied with two other teams at the end of the competition, the Ballina students came out on top maintaining their concentration throughout to answer all the tie break questions.
The school won the Junior category of this quiz competition before, but this is the first time the school won the Senior title.
The team are Gareth Doyle, Iarla Hannon, Michael Duffy and Cian Gillespie.
Principal Sean Gallagher told Midwest News this morning that they all prepared very well for this competition having won the Ballina and Chapter qualifier rounds in recent weeks.
The team were prepared by Anne Treacy, recently retired Deputy Principal of the School, and received support from all teachers and the wider school community of parents and friends.
