Students from Sacred Heart School, Westport, have returned home with a host of national awards after competing in two major drama competitions at the Cork Opera House this week.

On Monday, students from all year groups took part in the All-Ireland Light Entertainment final.

The original piece Dance Me to the End of Love, choreographed by Maud McCabe and Ella O’Malley, won third place, with the pair also picking up Best Director. Emma Ryan received a special award for her outstanding singing.

Later that evening, students performed a lively excerpt from A Chorus Line, featuring cast members from First to Sixth Year.

On Tuesday, a group of Transition Year students performed their original play What If in the All-Ireland Schools Drama Competition.

The performance impressed the judges, earning Séamas Cafferky Best Director, Maud McCabe Best Performer, and the overall title of All-Ireland Champions 2025.

Sacred Heart School is now recognised as one of Ireland’s leading schools for drama.

The school also extended thanks to parents for their support in bringing students to early morning and evening rehearsals.
