Gardaí from the Mayo Roads Policing Unit caught a driver travelling at almost twice the applicable speed on Thursday night.
The motorist was detected to be driving at 193 km/h on the N5, which has a 100 km/h limit.
The driver was stopped by Gardaí and was informed that they now have a court appearance in the future, where they can explain themselves to a judge.
