A motion has been supported at the biennial conference of the Irish Congress of trade unions in Belfast, seeking the reopening of the Western Rail Corridor.
It was brought forward by the Castlebar trades Council. and was formally adopted by the delegation this week.
They say that it is not only an amenity for the West of Ireland Tourism, it is also a key economic driver in the region.
