Mortgages cannot be secured from banks for modular homes and despite the government proposing such structures in back gardens to help to addresss the housing crisis, the reality is only those with money- the wealthy, can afford them.
That’s the view of Mayo Sinn Fein deputy Rose Conway Walsh and she says its disingenuous of the government to be proposing modular homes as a solution when so many are in despair over securing a home at present.
On Midwest News last month the Minister of State at the Department of Housing and Local Government John Cummins dismissed this anomaly in response to a question re mortgages and modular homes to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley.
