There is a growing movement among a group of MEPs, to ask questions of the Mercosur Trade Deal.
The Mercosur Deal aims to liberalize and increase free-trade between the European Union, and the Mercosur countries of South America.
Now, a group of MEPs are attempting to put forward legal questions for the Court of Justice, demanding the EU give their opinion on legal aspects of the trade deal.
Midlands-North West MEP Ciarán Mullooly has said the way in which the agreement was “split and sliced”, changing the way in which it was voted on, is neither “democratic” nor “meets EU standards in food safety, and fails miserably under environmental and labour laws”.
