A renowned Uilleann Piper from County Mayo is calling on Ireland’s new
President to showcase both the harp and the uilleann pipes when greeting
dignitaries at Áras an Uachtaráin.
Eamonn Walsh, from Ballina, initially made the call during the Presidential
Election to whoever won the race, and now is calling on Catherine Connolly
to implement his plans at her new home.
He says that the uilleann pipes and the harp are Ireland’s national
instruments, believing that both should be played at official events hosted
by the new President.
Mr. Walsh has been speaking to Midwest Radio’s Rian Bailey.
