Students from multiple Mayo students have been presented with a Gaelbhratach (Irish flag) for recognition of their commitment to the Irish language.

Operated by Gael Linn, Gaelbhratach is a national programme designed to encourage students at primary and post-primary level to use Irish beyond the classroom in a natural and enjoyable way.

While primary schools are set to be recognised later in the year, eight Mayo secondary schools in Mayo have now been recognised.

They include Rice College, Westport, Sancta Maria College, Louisburgh, Coláiste Chomáin, Ballina, St. Joseph’s, Foxford, Coláiste Pobail Acla, Our Lady’s and St. Brendan’s Belmullet, and St. Joseph’s Community College, Charlestown.
