Over 25,000 children across primary and secondary schools in Mayo are set to benefit from the free schoolbooks scheme.
A total of 11,739 students in 30 post-primary schools are to receive the assistance, along with 14,845 pupils across 155 primary schools.
Welcoming the investment of over €4m, Fine Gael TD for Mayo and Minister of State Alan Dillon said; “By removing the cost of books and essential classroom resources, we are ensuring that every child and young person can participate fully in school, regardless of their background or circumstances. This is about fairness, opportunity and supporting children to reach their full potential.”
In Galway, almost 30,000 students are to benefit from the scheme across 224 schools, representing a total investment across the county of over €9m.
