Mayo Mountain rescue were tasked to assist a woman who had fallen on Croagh Patrick on Saturday at around 3pm.
The woman sustained a head injury while descending the cone and was subsequently walked to the eastern end of the ridge path.
As her condition began to deteriorate, emergency services were alerted.
The first response team arrived on scene at the same time as the Coast Guard Rescue 118.
The casualty received immediate medical attention from the Coast Guard medic. With the assistance of mountain rescue personnel, she was safely winched aboard the helicopter and transported to Mayo University Hospital.
The team were stood down at 5pm.
