Investigations are continuing following wildfires in West Mayo which caused devastating damage to the Wild Nephin National Park.
Over the weekend, parts of the Claggan Boardwalk in Ballycroy were destroyed, while the Air Corps were tasked to wildfires at Letterkeen, where campers had to evacuate.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported following the fires, which have now been brought under control.
A planned clean-up operation cannot go ahead until the investigation into the cause of the fires is complete.
A Condition Orange – High Risk Fire Warning has been issued, and will remain in place until 12:00pm on Saturday.
Mayo County Council have stated that a high fire risk is deemed to exist in “all areas where hazardous fuels such as dead grasses and shrub fuels such as heather and gorse exist”.
